The South Dakota Catholic Conference supports the passage of House Concurrent Resolution 6020, which expresses South Dakota’s commitment to the sanctity of all life from the moment of conception. HCR 6020 responds to a pro-abortion position recently adopted by the National Education Association, a public teachers union and the nation’s largest professional interest group. The group’s belief in “the fundamental right to abortion under Roe v. Wade” is particularly concerning given the educational vocation to form children in truth, virtue, and respect for life. HCR 6020 advances a culture of life.
